The 2000 Census: Counting Under Adversity
Last Modified Date: 1/26/2004
Problems arose in the execution of the 2000 census, but the count was generally well done, says a report by the National Research Council of the National Academies. The findings in the report cover the planning process for 2000, major innovations in census operations, the completeness of population coverage in 2000, and the quality of both the basic demographic data collected from all census respondents and the detailed socioeconomic data collected from the census long-form sample.
