Last Modified Date: 9/9/2009

TRB’s Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) Web Document 20: Advanced Public Transportation Systems (APTS) for Rural Areas: Where Do We Start? How Far Should We Go? provides a framework to assist rural and small urban transit systems in conducting a cost/benefit analysis; determines how rural and small urban public transit systems can benefit from cooperative arrangements; documents the findings in a final comprehensive report; and, develop a decision guide to aid in the selection, procurement, and implementation of APTS technologies that are appropriate to the size and needs of the transit system.
