Research Funding in the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU)
Revised August 15, 2005

Last Modified Date: 8/15/2005

On Wednesday, August 10, 2005, President Bush signed into law the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), which funds the nation’s surface transportation programs through fiscal year 2009.  TRB produced tables comparing multi-year totals and annual averages for research in the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) and SAFETEA-LU, and highlight research and technology funding in non-research titles of SAFETEA-LU.  These are updated tables from those first released by TRB on August 2, 2005.  The changes were made after additional review of the bill and consultations with others.
