Intersection Decision Support: An Overview

Last Modified Date: 10/25/2007

The University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies has released a report that explores a rural Intersection Decision Support System.  The report examines a technique to identify intersections having crash rates higher than expected and reviews a statistical model that may be used to estimate the societal benefits of deploying a rural stop sign at rural intersections.  The report also assesses rural intersection surveillance and data acquisition systems, and highlights innovative driver-infrastructure interface concepts for communicating to the stopped driver.
